Do you know how the brain, nervous system works?

Nervous System

What does the Brain do?

The brain controls what we think and feel, how we learn and remember, and the way we move and talk
The brain is a central computer that controls all the body's functions. The brain can do much more than a
machine can.The brain controls our thoughts, memory and speech, movement of the arms and legs and the function of organs.

The brain sends and receives messages from different parts of the body through spinal cord and nerves . It is protected by the bony skull. The space between the brain and the skull is filled with a fluid that acts as a shock absorber.

Nervous System
The nervous system is made up of brain, spinal cord and nerves. The brain has three main parts:  Cerebrum, Cerebellum,Medulla Oblongata

      Cerebrum
It is the largest part of the human brain. It has many grooves and folds. It controls our sense organs.

Cerebellum
It controls the movement of muscles. It also helps in maintaining the balance our body.

Medulla Oblongata
The medulla oblongata helps regulate breathing, heart and blood vessel function, digestion, sneezing.

      What is spinal cord?

The spinal cord is a long, thick bundle of nerves that extends
down from the medulla till the lower end of the backbone. It protected by the backbone.
  • To relay messages from the brain to different parts of the body in order to perform in action.
  • To pass along messages from sensory receptors to the brain.
  • To coordinate reflexes that do not go through the brain and are managed by the spinal cord alone.
      What is a nerve?

A nerve is a cable like structure within the body designed to conduct nerve impulses that relay information from one part of the body to another. A typical nerve is made up of a bundle of fibres which are wrapped around layers of tissue and fat, and they stretch throughout the body. These nerves transmit information  along the axons to the respective organs. These are the basic elements that constitute a nerve. There are three types of nerves.
Sensory nerves  ,  Motor nerves ,  Mixed nerves

Sensory Nerves carry messages from the sense organs to the brain or spinal cord.
Motor Nerves carry messages from the brain or spinal cord to the muscles , organs and glands.
Mixed Nerves do both the jobs - carry messages to and from the brain.
